Bookings
Booking requests vs auto-approve: how each mode works
Choose whether you approve every booking yourself or let customers book instantly — and what happens to their money in each case.
The two modes
In Settings you choose how bookings are confirmed: Approval required (you accept or decline each request) or Auto-approve (bookings confirm instantly).
You can switch between them at any time. The change applies to new bookings only — anything already in your diary keeps its status.
Approval required (the default)
When a customer books, their card is authorised for the deposit and the £2 booking fee, but nothing is charged yet. Think of it as a hold, not a payment.
The request appears in your diary as Pending. You then Accept or Decline it.
Accept: the hold is captured — the deposit lands in your payment account and the booking becomes Confirmed.
Decline: the hold is released in full. The customer is never charged, and they're notified automatically.
If you don't respond, the hold expires automatically after 7 days and the customer is released from it — so it's worth checking your diary daily.
Auto-approve
The customer's card is charged immediately and the booking lands in your diary as Confirmed. Best for studios with simple, high-volume services where any slot is fine.
If you later cancel an auto-approved booking, the customer is refunded — so only switch this on if your availability is kept accurate.
Which should I choose?
Choose Approval required if your services need preparation, consultation, or you want to vet new clients — most beauty, wellness, tattoo and piercing studios start here.
Choose Auto-approve if you run back-to-back appointments and your working hours in GLAMR always reflect reality.
Either way, customers only ever pay when a booking is genuinely confirmed — GLAMR never takes money for a booking that doesn't happen.
